We are thankful for a lot of things.  This year, we were guests of the Louis’ for Thanksgiving dinner.  It was turkey with a mexican twist.  Thank you Dave, Lupe, Missy, Devon, Steven and Gilligan!

Value in experience

Posted in Tips on November 29th, 2008 by admin

Video equipment has dropped in recent years. Because of this, more and more companies are popping up that offer wedding videography. However, many of these companies are entering the wedding market as a training place to gain experience. As your wedding day is one of the single most important days of your life, you’ll want to trust a company who has a proven track record.   Like the saying goes, you often get what you pay for.

Finding a company that will produce a quality product while remaining unobtrusive is a major consideration. It is a form of art to produce a tasteful video. Someone who is experienced will have the “sixth-sense” to know what is coming, record it, and put it together in a entertaining form. All of your candid moments should come together like a well written story.

At the end of the day, you’ll want someone who will bring EXPERIENCE to your wedding rather than someone who is EXPERIMENTING with your wedding.

OWA Christmas Party

Posted in Food, Vendors on November 26th, 2008 by admin

Just some photos from tonights OWA Christmas Party.  We dined at Ploi Thai Restaurant and I must say that the food was AMAZING!  I love pad thai, summer rolls, yellow curry and the list goes on.  I highly recommend checking it out!  They have regular dinner seating downstairs and a private party room upstairs where we had our gathering.

True Story | True Love

Posted in Vendors, Venues, Wedding on November 24th, 2008 by admin

Okay, this is a true story of true love.

A few weeks before the wedding day, while they were sleeping, Berni and Elton’s home caught on fire. I don’t have all the details but I do know that Berni only had enough time to grab her wedding rings before leaving the home. The next day, she called her wedding planner, Laura Lewis, to tell her of the news. Concerned, Laura asked Berni how she was doing. Berni’s reply was that she had gained more than she lost.

”How so?”, asked Laura. Berni told Laura of the heroic

actions of her fiance, Elton. How he not only protected her, but did his best to alert the neighbors. With that, she knew without any doubt that she was marrying the right man.

We think that Elton chose the right girl as well. Berni and Elton, thanks for letting us be a part of your celebration!

Time for turkey

Posted in Personal on November 21st, 2008 by admin

I can’t believe it’s almost Thanksgiving again.  We just had a whirlwind month.  Some challenges but lots of good came from this month.  Now I’ll finally have a chance to take a breather after a long summer and fall of weddings.  I am so thankful that my family is healthy and happy.  My beautiful wife is always so supportive and my two daughters are truly angels…even when their misbehaving, I can see that they really want to be good girls.

Thanksgiving has to be my favorite holiday.  It has all the same festivities as Christmas, without all the same expectations.  We spend time with family and friends and no one is wondering if what they are getting or giving is good enough.

This year, as like last year, we will be spending Thanksgiving with our dear friends, Dave and Lupe Louis (and their family).  Many of you may know Dave from his company, Dynamic Soundz.  Dave is one of the finest DJ/Emcees in the industry…and an all around good person.  Plus, he’s pretty handy around the kitchen.  When we get together, it seems our wives enjoy taking a back seat to the cooking duties.  Can’t wait to get my hands on the juicy drumstick!

Posted in Vendors, Wedding on November 21st, 2008 by admin

Here’s a fun spoof we did for “A Perfect Day” wedding consultants.  Mary played the role of “PC” and Kelly was “Mac”.  You gotta hand to Mary for really getting into her character.  I was cracking up the whole time that I was editing it.  Special thanks to the following:

Lighting: David Murphey & Kara Matsunaga
Music:  Jeriel Saludez & Bryan Sanchez of First Verse
Actors:  Mary Cachuela & Kelly Sugano

AT&T Statewide Outage

Posted in News/Politics on November 20th, 2008 by admin

I’m putting this up just in case anyone is having difficulty trying to reach me.  Sorry, but I am getting zero coverage on my iPhone today.  We spoke with the folks at AT&T and they said the outage is statewide.  You won’t even be directed to voicemail.  So, if you need to reach me, the best thing to do is email for now.

Sorry.

Hale Koa | Renovations

Posted in Food, Venues, Wedding on November 16th, 2008 by admin

It seems not only has the Banyan Tree Ballroom been renovated, the food was kicked up a notch as well.  We wedding vendors talk a lot about the different places we get to eat on a weekly basis.  And the Hale Koa is always up on the list.  Who would’ve thought the military could provide such great food.  Anyhow, the mahi mahi last night was off the hook!  Perfect texture and flavor!  I was trying to control my portion size but after having the first bite, I had to go back for a second piece of it.  I skipped out on dessert instead.  Thanks to a great team of vendors, last night was a huge success!  Congratulations to newlyweds, Joyce & Destin!

Side Street Inn

Posted in Food, Vendors on November 12th, 2008 by admin

It surprises me when someone who has lived here most of there lives tells me that they’ve never been to Side Street Inn. “What have you been doing for the last 30-40 years of your life!?”, I wonder to myself.

Anyhow, we (Kris Labang and I) got the priveledge of bring two of our friends there for their virgin experience. We had the famous pork chops along with the fried rice, spicy chicken and yakisoba. My only regret is that it messed with my diet once again. But it was a good time had by all. Thanks to Kris Labang who picked up the tab!
